Mr. Melton Harvey, II


Melton Harvey, II is a native of Flint, MI and a 2010 alumnus of Alcorn State University. While at Alcorn, he was very active on and off campus. After completing all degree requirements for a Bachelor's of Music Degree, he started teaching in Fayette, MS at the Jefferson County High School as the Head Band Director. 


While Building a program at the school, Mr. Harvey  worked on a Master's of Science in Higher Education at Walden University and earned 18 credit hours in graduate Music Education courses from the University of Southern Mississippi. Today, he serves as the Assistant Director of Bands/instructor at Alcorn State University. With an unswerving loyalty to his Alma mater, aside from teaching courses, Mr. Harvey oversees the ASU Jazz band, concert band, and assists with the great Sounds of Dyn-O-Mite marching band.


In December of 2018, Mr. Harvey obtained a Master's of Music Education from Jackson State University. Mr. Harvey is also very active with his affiliation to the HBCU Band Consortium, the National Educators Association, and the National Association for Music Educators. On campus, Mr Harvey is an advisor for the GQ modeling squad and the Delta Kappa Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
