Michael Harper is a native of Jackson, Ms. He attended Jackson Public Schools and graduated from Provine High School, where he marched in the band and was a member of Jackson's All City Band. He is an alumnus of Alcorn State University and AIU with degrees in Marketing and Design. While attending Alcorn State University, Mr. Harper became one of the founding members of Alcorn’s Funky Four Drum Major squad, which he states is one of his proudest accomplishments.
Michael is a former Senior Manager with FedEx Express. From 2015 to 2018, Mr. Harper managed FedEx Ground Operations for all of Central Ms. While at FedEx, Mr. Harper was a two-time recipient of the highest award bestowed on a FedEx employee, the FedEx Five Star Award. He was also a recipient of the FedEx Leadership Award, as well as the recipient of the prestigious 2017 Profit Manager of the Year award. He also is a proud member of The Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. Mr. Harper also was the On-Air personality for The Project Overcoat Initiative, sponsored by FedEx, Atlanta's Fox 5, and The United Way.
Mr. Harper retired in 2020 after 29 years of continuous service with FedEx Express. Mr. Harper relocated back to Jackson in 2021 to be closer to his family. He presently is a Career Specialist at his Alma Mater, Alcorn State University, where he continues to exercise his passion for developing leaders and mentoring young men and women.
