Mr. Brian Sterling


Brian Sterling, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, attended Southern University in pursuit of a degree of Secondary Education with emphasis on Mathematics. Currently, he is pursuing a degree in Criminal Justice from Capella University. 


As a  Professional Percussionist, he has entertained and performed in numerous stage plays and musicals. Mr. Sterling has performed around the country as a percussionist behind artists such as RL of the group Next, Kenny Neal, Calvin Richardson, and Chester D.T. Baldwin. He has also played with world renowned jazz violinists, Michael and Shaun Ward, and for a multitude of second line brass bands. 


As a Drum Instructor, Mr. Sterling has led the drum sections of Washington-Marion High School in Lake Charles, La., The Silver and Gold Regiment in Moreno Valley, Ca., and Northwest High School in Opelousas, La. He also worked with St. Martinville Senior High in St. Martinville, La., The Baton Rouge All-Stars Marching Band, The Heritage Community Band in Lafayette, La., The Louisiana Leadership Institute All-Star Marching Band, and The 337 All-Star Marching Band. In addition to leading and teaching drum sections, Prof. Sterling has been a featured Percussion Clinician for many schools including General Trass High School in Lake Providence, La., and Edgewood Middle and High Schools in Baltimore, Md. 


Mr. Sterling is an active participant of The HBCU National Band Directors Consortium and a proud member of Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity.
